As a coarse actor of many years standing, I fell in love with Michael Green's book 30 years ago, and was very sad to find that it was no longer in print just a few years later. Now I have been able to buy it again and pass its message on to a new generation of coarse actors!

It's a description of how some actors in community theatre exist - and the outrages they perpetrate on directors, designers and audiences.

It is also very, very funny.
Absolutely The Best - a classic!
A must read for any actor- coarse or not.
This is one of my husband's and my favorite books, and I was elated to find a copy! We have laughed and laughed our way through this book. I recommend it to anyone connected with the theater or who aspires to act. It is wonderful!
An older but still hilarious book about the things that go wrong on stage during a play or musical. I'm writing a farfce and it's coming in very handy!
If you have ever been involved in the field of drama during your lifetime, you will be sure to get your ribs tickled with this book. Many of the scenarios Green presents has either happened to you or has been your worst fear while onstage; yet they make a hilarious read to the outside observer with his deftness of description. Excellent book, I'd recommend it to anyone who has any interest in live theater.
An actor friend recommended this book to me many years ago, and made it sound funnier than it was, at least for me when I finally found it. There are several good laughs, mind you, and it's not BAD, just didn't live up to its buildup.
So I'm here to tell you that it's pretty darn OK, and if you read it and find it hilarious and can't imagine why I didn't give it a better review, it's so I don't do for you what my friend did to me.
Maybe look for it in a library, though...
