THANK YOU, I did not think I would find a historical romance I did not want to return again, the last two I read, I did DNF and a return and wrote scathing reviews, but I took a chance and found this gem it had everything in it, delightful writing, with humor, humanity, love, passion, redemption tears and love so deep it won the race. The heroine was smart, beautiful but felt sarcastic about it, selfassured without being arrogant, and did not make any stupid decistions that put the hero in peril, it fact the hero was a man who was a beast who had lived with pain for a very long time, but it did not stop him from becoming a brilliant Dr., This was not an instalove romance, but it had such character such humor that you read every word, this is not a book you skipread, no, this book makes dread the end of it (even though it was a good end). I am so thankful I could do a postive review of an historcal romance and I can honestly recomend this book it is 4.5 stars easy and you can take that to the bank, enjoy be ready to laugh, get dreamy when its steamy ;) and awed and tearful all the best of what make a book worthy read.

Possibly one of my favorites from this author. Absolutely loved the witty banter between hero and heroine. Perfect homage to the T.V. show House and that cranky but brilliant doctor. Enjoyed this novel from beginning to end. Highly recommend and if you love Eloisa James you'll love this version of Beauty and the Beast too. If you haven't read any of her novels this would be a perfect place to start.
I selected this book due to the combined reasons of to my love of fairytale retellings and my love of stories in which the hero or heroine is flawed in some way. From the opening pages, Ms. James makes the reader acutely aware of both the source take and the heroine's rightful claim to being the Beauty of the story. And then writes a book where we realized that her looks are not why Piers falls in love with Linnet, because when her looks might be a thing of the past his love is unwavering.

Piers is modeled very strongly after Dr. House. If you've ever watched the show and laughed at his bluntness, you'll probably chuckle a few times here. Our heroine is an ideal match though, of course, he is slow to acknowledge it. She has a sharp wit, an intellectual curiosity and a kind nature which will make him a better doctor, a better man.

I believe that this book is the experience romance readers seek -- funny, touching, and sexy. Now, I'm a girl who likes pretty explicit stuff, and this book is not that, but the relationship is so interesting and inherently sexy that the slow pace at getting them into bed doesn't seem slow in the least.

When Beauty Tamed The Beast also has a really great emotional pay-off. Do you love scenes where, in a moment of true crisis, a character realizes just how much the person they love means to them? Any of you guys remember the scene in Something Wonderful (Judith McNaught) in which the hero has to contemplate losing the heroine in order to understand the depth of his love? This. Only with chicken manure -- well, and some other unsavory things. The hero, who has been pushing the heroine away, becomes a true hero and pushes himself past endurance in order to save the woman he loves.

If you don't love that, this might be the wrong genre for you. )

I couldn't stop reading this. My husband and I had plans and, while I was happy about those plans, I just wanted to finish the book. I told my husband I needed to bathe as part of my getting ready, stuck the in a Ziploc, and stole 10 minutes reading time that way. When we got to the place we were staying, I promptly went back to reading and ended up crying enough to make the mascara run.

5 stars. As always, I can't say my experience will be yours, but this is on the top of my list now of books I would recommend to a friend.
I always ignore bad reviews and do my own decision making when it comes to books. In this case, I am glad I did. I accidently stumbled across this book in my quest for fairy tale re-writes and it was a fun read. The main story line is well developed, the characters, though some apparently disagree with me, are fun and more believable than most I find in romance novels. Honestly, this historical romance was one of the least cliché romances I have read. There is a smaller, subplot going on as well and it tied very nicely in with the main plot. All in all, I found this a charming read and I am not even generally a big historical romance reader. LOL. I think I shall most definitely go on and read the rest of the Fairy Tale series. There was just enough retelling that Beauty and the Beast came through but there was also enough of the author's own story to keep the story from becoming boring or too predictable.
I love to read and have read many books by many authors some I liked, some I did not. Some authors I would not even try because others told me that I would not like them. Elosia James was one of them, today I deeply regret that I let them keep me from learning what a wonderful,fantastic writer she is. I have now been reading her books for over a month and once I started,with DUCHESS IN LOVE, I have not stopped getting and reading from the Desperate Duchesses,and even getting all the Happily Ever After series
When reading Beauty Tamed the Beast I have not been able to put down once started, the journey of the main characters, the Duke and maman, even the outrageous of duplicity of the butler(working for both the Duke and Piers), the happiness and the sorrows had me laughing and crying.
Elosia James is so great at pulling the reader into the plots, the trials and the wonderful ending of each one making sure that you wish that the story is not over. So, if you want a great book to read that is funny, that is filled with surprises and not like other writers then Elosia James is one of the best to read and keep to read over and over.
