Just a Kiss A Summer Harbor Novel Denise Hunter 9780718023751 Books

Beautifully told, heartfelt and captivating; Just a Kiss more than lived up to my expectations! Which have been building up since Book 1. Hunter does a wonderful job of portraying all that Riley is going through as he returns home; an amputee and with PTSD. His struggles and frustrations, his interactions and relationships are well written and very believable. I have to say, that Hunter found the perfect balance of realism without making the book too heavy.

I found myself completely caught up in the story from the start and with the characters. This was a novel I did not want to put down and I am thrilled to have had the time to read it today. Although this is the 3rd Book in the series, it could be read as a stand alone novel. However, I still believe you will enjoy it more if you read the previous books first. I loved the whole series, and getting to see the characters again in each book as their stories progress as well.

Just a Kiss, is filled with hope, faith, friendship, love, heartache, forgiveness and all the things that make this a very worthwhile read! Loved it! My only regret is that the series has come to an end!

Just a Kiss A Summer Harbor Novel Denise Hunter 9780718023751 Books Reviews

I have no idea why it took me so long to get to reading Just a Kiss. Denise Hunter is one of my all time favorite authors, plus I've been really looking forward to Riley and Paige's story since the very first book in this series. I have no excuses, so I'll just get on with my thoughts for this book.

What can I say about Riley? He's just such a likable guy and I was always rooting for him. After he comes back from Afghanistan wounded, he hides his pain and frustration behind smiles and jokes, but he's really hurting inside. His pride and dignity are wounded and he hates asking for help. He's independent and stubborn, which is not a great combination at the moment. And he's sure not happy when he finds out Paige, his best friend and girl he's secretly in love with, will be the one helping take care of him.

Paige is a great friend. She's strong and even when everything seems to be piling up on her, she takes it in stride and does her very best to get the job done. When she's informed the shelter will most likely be closing, she does everything in her power to stop that from happening. I really admired her commitment and love for her job, the shelter, and the animals, plus her allegiance to Riley in the midst of all her own struggles.

Just a Kiss was another fantastic contemporary romance from Denise Hunter. It was great to go back to Summer Harbor and catch up with the Callahan clan. And I was so happy to finally learn all about the history between Miss Trudy and Sheriff Colton. Even though this is book three, it can totally standalone. If you haven't read the first two books, I don't believe you'd be lost at all. I highly recommend and can't wait to read whatever comes next from Denise Hunter!
Another great swoon-worthy romance from Denise Hunter! I've been waiting for this story since I first met Riley and Paige in Falling Like Snowflakes, the first book of this series. I always enjoy a great friends-to-lovers story, and this was the perfect conclusion to the Summer Harbor series. I adored having a physically flawed hero, even if it was heartbreaking to see what Riley had to go through. I love how the author always weaves in the inspirational threads as a natural part of the story.

Plot Riley Callahan has been in love with his best friend, Paige Warren, for a long time, even though she doesn't know it. He enlisted in the Marines just to get away when Paige was dating his brother. When Paige and Beau broke up, he was heading to boot camp, but now he's coming home an amputee. The Callahan family arranges for Riley to recover at Paige's house, which will make it very difficult for Riley to keep his feelings in check. Paige deserves better than a broken man.

Characters Riley's story has been heartbreaking from the beginning, and I loved getting to know him more. He's my favorite Callahan brother and quite the charming hero! Paige's love for animals and the shelter makes her endearing and I love her loyalty to her best friend. The chemistry between the two of them is so well written and I enjoyed every minute of their story.

Recommendation I'd highly recommend this book to those who enjoy great inspirational romance. It was the best of the series by far! While it can stand alone, I'd recommend reading the first two books, because you'll get a little more of Paige and Riley's back story. I'm sorry to see this series come to an end, but I look forward to seeing what the author comes up with next.

Rating 5/5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the Thomas Nelson Fiction Guild. This review is my honest opinion.
